My name is Erin Baird and I am so excited to share first grade with you! This year is going to be filled with so many wonderful memories as we grow together and continue to develop our academic skills!
I am a huge advocate for faith-based education, as I have seen it have a big impact on my own life! I grew up in Needham, Massachusetts where I attended Saint Joseph's Elementary School from grades K-8. I also attended Creighton University, a Jesuit, Catholic university in Omaha, Nebraska. I graduated from Creighton with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a Special Education Endorsement. Upon graduating, I began teaching at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA in their Deafblind Program. During this time, I also received my M.Ed from Boston College in Curriculum & Instruction with specializations in Special Education and Autism Spectrum Disorders. This year I am finishing up my Ed.S in Reading with Orton Gillingham and Reading Specialist licensure from Gordon College. My hope is to bring my passion for Catholic education and my desire to differentiate instruction into our classroom at Saint Mary's! 2023-2024 will be my fifth year here. :)
When I am not in the classroom, I love spending time visiting my family on Cape Cod, reading, running, cooking, playing with my yellow lab Maisie, taking care of my bunnies (Snickers and Twix) and spending time with friends!
