This year I will be using a web-based program called Class Dojo to help track students’ behavior. It is an excellent communication tool to help keep parents updated about their child’s behavior, as well as to motivate students to be kind and responsible.
In Class Dojo, students can earn points for positive behaviors such as being on task, following directions, helping others, etc. For negative behaviors, students will receive neutral points as a “needs work” reminder. These points are neutral because I believe students should not lose points that they have worked hard to earn! At the end of each week, students will have the opportunity to redeem their points for special prizes or coupons to be used in the classroom!
Once you have joined our class, you will be able to check your child’s progress anytime. You will also be emailed a report every Friday, and I will send home a printed summary as well. Students can create their own account so they can check on their own progress as well. (There’s even an app!) Parents love having instant access to how their child is doing. Another great feature of Class Dojo is the ability for me to send messages to parents. This way, we can keep an ongoing communication about anything you may have concerns with, or have questions about.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions!
